How Much Does the PS5 Pro Cost in Canada?
The PS5 Pro launched in Canada in November 2024 at $959.99 CAD. Following Sony's global price increase, effective April 2, 2026, the Canadian price rose to $1,099.99 CAD — a $140 jump. For comparison, the standard PS5 disc console now costs $819.99 CAD, and the Digital Edition costs $749.99 CAD. Canada saw one of the steeper percentage increases globally in this round of hikes.
Best Retailers to Buy a PS5 Pro in Canada
The PS5 Pro is widely available across Canada's major electronics and general retailers. These are the ones worth checking:
| Retailer | What to Know |
|---|---|
| Best Buy Canada | Wide selection, in-store pickup available, and offers interest-free financing on eligible consoles over $649.99 if paid within 18 months (not available in Quebec) |
| Amazon.ca | Reliable stock and fast shipping — confirm the listing is sold and shipped by Amazon rather than a third-party marketplace seller |
| Walmart.ca | Carries both the standard and Digital Edition PS5 Pro; watch for bundled listings that inflate the price well above MSRP |
| EB Games / GameStop Canada | Worth checking for trade-in credit toward a new console, and occasionally has pre-owned stock |
| PlayStation Direct | Sony's own store has been used for Canadian console drops in the past — check availability directly, as access has historically been more limited than in the US |
Because pricing and stock can shift by province and by the day, it's worth comparing at least two or three of these before buying rather than assuming any single retailer has the best deal.
Why Did the Price Go Up So Much?
Sony attributed the April 2026 increase to continued pressure in the global economic landscape, without citing a single specific cause. The hike affected the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal simultaneously across nearly every major region, with Canada, the US, the UK, and Europe all seeing double-digit percentage increases on the Pro model. This marks the second time in recent years that Sony has raised PS5 pricing in Canada.
Is It Worth Buying for GTA 6?
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches November 19, 2026, and is confirmed as a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" title on the PlayStation Store, with Sony promoting the PS5 family as the game's lead platform. That's driving a lot of renewed interest in the Pro model. Worth knowing before you commit: Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter has noted the PS5 Pro uses essentially the same CPU as the base PS5, which makes a guaranteed 60fps mode for a CPU-heavy game like GTA 6 uncertain. The console's confirmed advantages are a stronger GPU, better ray tracing, and PSSR upscaling — not a locked frame-rate promise.
PS5 Pro vs Standard PS5: Is It Worth the Extra Cost?
- Worth it if: you own a 4K TV, play titles with a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label regularly, and prioritize visual fidelity and ray tracing.
- Skip it if: you're on a 1080p or basic 4K display, or mostly play games that already run well on the standard PS5 — at $280 more than the disc-based standard PS5, the price gap in Canada is now substantial.
How to Get the Best PS5 Pro Deal in Canada
Major Canadian sales events — Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Boxing Day — have historically been the best windows for console discounts, including on the PS5 Pro. Outside of those periods, most retailers sit close to the $1,099.99 CAD RRP. If you're not in a rush, timing your purchase around one of these events, and checking Best Buy, Amazon.ca, and Walmart.ca on the same day, is the most reliable way to avoid paying full price.
FAQ
What is the current price of the PS5 Pro in Canada?
$1,099.99 CAD, following Sony's April 2, 2026 price increase from $959.99 CAD.
Where is the best place to buy a PS5 Pro in Canada?
Best Buy Canada, Amazon.ca, and Walmart.ca are the most reliably stocked options. Comparing prices across two or three retailers on the day you buy is the best way to find the lowest current price.
Does the PS5 Pro come with a disc drive in Canada?
No. The standard PS5 Pro is digital-only; a separate disc drive attachment is sold on its own for physical game support.
Why is the PS5 Pro so expensive in Canada compared to the US?
Canadian pricing includes a larger currency conversion gap plus regional pricing adjustments Sony applies independently of the US market — the CAD price isn't a simple 1:1 exchange rate conversion from USD.
Should I buy the PS5 Pro now or wait for a sale?
If you don't need it immediately, waiting for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Boxing Day has historically produced the best discounts on PS5 Pro pricing in Canada.
Is the PS5 Pro worth it just for GTA 6?
GTA 6 is confirmed as "PS5 Pro Enhanced" with better resolution and ray tracing expected, but a guaranteed 60fps mode isn't confirmed, since the CPU is largely unchanged from the base PS5. Buy for the overall visual upgrade rather than a specific frame-rate promise.
Final Thoughts
The PS5 Pro is available across all of Canada's major retailers, but at $1,099.99 CAD it's a much bigger investment than it was at launch. Best Buy, Amazon.ca, and Walmart.ca are your most reliable options, and timing a purchase around Black Friday or Boxing Day is still the best way to bring that price down.
