How Much Does the PS5 Pro Cost in Ireland?
The PS5 Pro launched in November 2024 at €799.99. Sony raised prices across Europe, including Ireland, on March 27, 2026, pushing the PS5 Pro to its current official price of €899.99. The standard PS5 disc console sits at €649.99, and the Digital Edition at €599.99 — meaning there's a straightforward €250 gap between the standard PS5 and the Pro.
Best Retailers to Buy a PS5 Pro in Ireland
| Retailer | What to Know |
|---|---|
| Smyths Toys Ireland | Lists the PS5 Pro at the official €899.99 price with free delivery over €25 and Click & Collect available |
| Very.ie | Stocking normally at or close to RRP, with the option to spread the cost via a credit account |
| Harvey Norman | Reliable stock at the standard price, with in-store pickup available |
| Euronics | Independent electronics retailer network carrying the console at standard pricing |
| GameStop Ireland | Worth checking for trade-in credit toward a new console, alongside standard stock |
Prices fluctuate slightly around the official RRP depending on bundles and promotions, so it's still worth comparing two or three of these before buying — but unlike the stock crunches reported in Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark recently, Irish shoppers haven't faced the same scramble.
What About the Disc Drive?
The PS5 Pro doesn't include a disc drive out of the box — it's a digital-only console by default. If you want physical media support, you can add the disc drive as a standalone purchase for roughly €90, or buy a PS5 Pro + Disc Drive bundle for around €989.99. If you play physical games or still trade discs, it's worth factoring that extra cost into your budget from the start.
Is the PS5 Pro Worth It for GTA 6?
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches November 19, 2026, and is confirmed as a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" title on the PlayStation Store, with Sony positioning the PS5 family as the game's lead platform. One thing worth knowing before buying specifically for this: Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter has pointed out that the PS5 Pro shares essentially the same CPU as the base PS5, which makes a guaranteed 60fps mode for a CPU-heavy game like GTA 6 uncertain. The console's confirmed strengths are a stronger GPU, improved ray tracing, and PSSR upscaling — not a locked frame-rate promise.
PS5 Pro vs Standard PS5: Is It Worth the Extra Cost?
- Worth it if: you own a 4K TV, regularly play titles with a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label, and value a GPU with roughly 67% more compute power than the standard PS5.
- Skip it if: you're on a 1080p or basic 4K display, or mostly play games that already run well on the standard PS5 — at a flat €250 more than the disc-based PS5 (before adding a disc drive), the gap is significant.
